BAPTISM
Mark 16:16 He that believes and is baptized shall be saved!
Baptism is a very important part of the gospel message, but baptism in and of itself will not save you. A person must repent of their sins before being baptized. Repentance simply means a change of mind that produces a change of lifestyle. Once you have decision to follow Chirst and have asked for His forgiveness, you are now ready to be baptized.
Repentance identifies with Jesus' death on the cross. As Christ died, we die to our old nature by repenting of our sins.
In Baptism, we identify with Christ's burial in the grave. (Romans 6:3-6) Just as Jesus rose from the grave the Bible tells us that we rise to walk in newness of life through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 22:16) "What are you waiting for? Arise and be baptized and wash away thy sins." This is how a person is saved by Grace through Faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) by obeying the gospel message of Jesus Christ.
